Deputy Postmaster General (Operations) D.A. Rajitha K. Ranasinghe told the media that even though September 8 is a government holiday, the distribution of official ballot papers is expected to be carried out from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
"We believe that the people will stay in their homes on the announced date to receive the official polling cards," he added.
Accordingly, September 14 has been announced as the last day for the distribution of the polling cards.
The final date was announced by the Election Commission. According to the Act, after September 14, door-to-door distribution of official electoral notices will not take place.
But people can obtain their polling cards until election day from the nearest post office during office hours after confirming their identity.
