Driver arrested for stealing Rs. 75 Mn in cash from secure transportation service

Colombo , November 20 (Daily Mirror) - A 35-year-old man was arrested in Gampaha for allegedly stealing Rs. 75 million in cash from an institution that provides secure cash transportation services. 

Police said the Gampaha Division Crime Investigation Bureau and Minuwangoda Police launched an investigation after a driver employed by the security firm had allegedly fled with Rs. 75 million in cash from Minuwangoda on Monday.

Following a tip-off, police arrested the suspect yesterday in Kaduwangaha, Gampaha and found him in possession of 5 grams of ice narcotic. 

Following information during questioning, police recovered Rs. 31,515,291 of the stolen cash from the suspect.

The arrested individual has been identified as a resident of Makawita.
