Duminda Silva assumes duties

Former MP Duminda Silva, who was released on a special presidential pardon over the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, assumed duties as the Chairman of the National Housing Development Authority.

He was appointed to the new post last month and assumed duties this morning during a simple ceremony.

Duminda Silva was jailed to life in prison from 2016 after the Colombo High Court found him guilty for the murder of former MP Bharatha Premachandra. He was set free from the Welikada Prison on June 24 after he received a presidential pardon from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa
