EC chairman invites EU representatives to observe 2024 election

Colombo, August 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Chairman of the Elections Commission has invited the European Union (EU) to send a group of representatives for observation of the Presidential election in 2024, Cabinet spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardana announced.

Addressing the weekly meeting today to announce Cabinet decisions, he said that prior to the inauguration of election observations under the regulations of the said Union, administrative provisions have to be signed between the representatives of the European Union that arrive in Sri Lanka and the Foreign Affairs Ministry. 

Accordingly, the two parties signed the administrative provisions related to the observation of the Presidential election 2024 on August 5, 2024 and the Cabinet Ministers took information furnished by the Foreign Affairs Minister into consideration.
