Senior police officers have expressed that 85 to 90 per cent of the information received about the Easter Sunday attacks and about the incidents following are baseless and framed on suspicion.

Police officers have revealed these views at a special discussion held last week to review the progress on the investigation activities on charges against various individuals on the Easter Sunday attack.

Some persons who gave the information to the police even revealed information through the media. However, this information has been found baseless, they said.

No connection or involvement of most of the persons mentioned in the information has been established in the investigations. These baseless allegations have adversely affected the characters of several individuals, while agitative allegations also have caused harsh inconveniences to those affected, as revealed in the discussion.
