Former Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa has provided a statement to the Police Unit attached to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) to investigate allegations of large scale corruption between January 15, 2015 and December 31, 2018, last week.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror sources from the Commission said that the former Minister had provided a statement about two complaints regarding the Education Ministry for allegedly using the funds allocated to ‘Suraksha’ insurance scheme and corruptions related to Mahapola scholarship fund.
In addition, currently the PCoI investigates corruption of the current administration is examining matters regarding to the import of high-yielding pregnant milk cows in 2014, import of ‘Herticad’, the new Russian controversial oncology medicine to treat patients with breast cancer and regarding the misuse of government funds in renting out a building to Agriculture Ministry.
