Election Commission seeks report from health DG

Cololmbo, July 31 (Daily Mirror) -  The Election Commission has sought a report from the Director General of Health Services regarding the participation of government nurses in uniform at the National All Ceylon Nurses’ Conference, which was held under the patronage of National People’s Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Rathnayake said the Commission has received multiple complaints regarding the presence of uniformed nurses at a meeting with Dissanayake.

“Although this matter is not directly related to us, we have sought a report due to a range of complaints we have received,” he added.

Meanwhile, sources familiar with the matter indicated that the Secretary to the Ministry of Health had granted duty leave for nurses to attend the National All Ceylon Nurses’ Conference.
