Colombo, July 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Election Commission has formally requested President Ranil Wickremesinghe to address the ongoing issue surrounding the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Rathnayake stated that the purpose of the letter is to address potential institutional hiccups that could arise due to the absence of an IGP.

However, he clarified that while the lack of an IGP is a concern, it is not considered a significant obstacle in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.
