There is enough stocks of petrol available at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) storage and there is no need to wait in the queues at filling stations, CPC Chairman Sumith Wijesinghe said.

He told media that no petrol shortage at all earlier and now. He said fake news spread in social media to cause panic among public.

He confirmed that adequate stocks of petrol are being issued  for fuel stations which are sufficient for the daily fuel need.

"The queues to buy petrol are not because of shortage at filing stations, it is because the people themselves have created queues. Therefore, the motorists are advised not to wait in queues for the fuel needs. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
