Senior career diplomat Esala Weerakoon assumed duties as the Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a short while ago, the Ministry said.

Mr. Weerakoon has served as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Norway and India. He has also served as Deputy Ambassador to the United States.
