Facebook party raided, 18 underage students arrested

Colombo, September 30 (Daily Mirror) - Ragama police raided a Facebook party last evening, arresting 18 underage students, officials confirmed. 

The operation took place in a garage in Keselwatta, Nugawela, following a tip-off about a secret gathering. The garage was secured with a roller door, and among those arrested were 16 boys and two girls, all aged between 15 and 19.

The students hailed from areas including Kotahena, Bloemendhal, Dematagoda, Wellampitiya, and Kolonnawa, and were reportedly attending well-known schools in these regions. 

According to police, these students had been involved in drug-related activities for some time and appeared affluent, despite hailing from impoverished families.

The suspects are expected to be produced before the Ragama Magistrate's Court.

The raid was led by Ragama Police OIC Chief Inspector Buddika Rajapaksa and OIC of the Anti Curruption Unit CI Asela Perera.
