The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has recovered several firearms and swords in the house of retired doctor who was arrested in connection with the recovery of a hand grenade at the Borella All Saints' Church.
The police have found four pistols, a revolver, two swords, a Rambo knife and an unidentified firearm from the residence in Piliyandala.
Earlier, the police arrested a 65-year old suspect in the Panamura area in Embilipitiya in connection with the recovery of the hand grenade.
The retired doctor was arrested on Wednesday night after information about him was revealed during a lengthy interrogation of the suspect arrested in Embilipitiya.
It was reported that the doctor had been running a private medical center and the man arrested in Embilipitiya had been working as a security guard at the medical center.
The Borella Police and the CCD commenced investigations into the incident after the hand grenade was found on January 11.
Police suspect that the hand grenade had been given to the suspect by the retired doctor and further investigations are underway.(DSB)
