First National Streaming Hub inaugurated

The first National Streaming Hub was inaugurated at the Education Ministry today under the government's plan to bring school education closer to children through television.

The National Streaming Hub has been established for the children whose education has been disrupted due to COVID-19 epidemic, 

While inaugurating the event, Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said the Broadcasting Centre was established with the latest technical facilities and with the high speed internet facility.

The Broadcasting Centre transmits all subject-related programs produced by the National Institute of Education (NIE) to high quality TV channels and web channels in a timely manner, covering the syllabus.

The quality of the program and the program alignment are constantly monitored by the subject directors at this centre. Technical errors are also rectified here.

In addition to the two 'Nenasa' channels currently broadcast on Dialog TV, two new channels (No. 22 and 25) were launched simultaneously.

This centre was established according to the concept of educational reform, open universities, and distance education promotion State Minister Susil Premajayantha, This is a huge step taken to popularise online education in Sri Lanka.

This project was designed to continue to work despite the end of the epidemic situation and this will enable children who do not have internet access to study at home through television.

This project is to be expanded in the future. Studio facilities will be provided to cover all the districts of the island, and a large number of resource people will be involved in this project.

The project was launched by Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Youth & Sports and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development Namal Rajapaksa, Foreign Minister G. L. Peiris, Education Reforms, Open Universities and Distance Learning Promotion State Minister Susil Premajayantha, State Minister Piyal Nishantha, State Minister Seetha Arambepola, State Minister Vijitha Berugoda and MP Yadamini Gunawardena.
