Colombo, October 14 (Daily Mirror) - The flood situation in the rivers flowing through the western and south-western areas has started to recede due to lesser rainfall in the catchment areas over the past 24 hours, Irrigation (Hydrology) Director Eng. S.P.C. Sugeeshwara Bandara said.

However, due to the increased water level in the Attanagalu Oya basin, the existing flood situation in the Wattala and Ja-Ela Divisional Secretariat division is expected to see a minor increase.

The areas currently experiencing floods are expected to return to normal as the water level recedes by the end of today.

However, if the rain continues, there could be an increase in flooding in the affected areas.
