Former President Maithripala Sirisena is fully responsible for the Easter Sunday attack and legal action should be taken against him, Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.
He told the media after participating in a ceremony organised in Yakkala that he did not have issues with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), but action should be taken against Sirisena.
"The SLFP is our beginning, and my honour is given to the party. But we have a problem with the people who led the SLFP in the past. Therefore, in the last parliamentary election, I told them not to vote for anyone who has connections with the SLFP, " he said.
"The former president ruined the party and is trying to destroy the current government too. He should be fully responsible for the Easter Sunday attack," Minister Ranatunga said.
"Every day I will speak where I need to be active against him. Recently we were listening to the speeches of SLFP MPs outside. We can't keep quiet all day. It hurts some people to answer those things. When it hurts, we have to say more than they say. I'm a person who always expressed my opinion. If the government wants to move forward strongly, it has to take direct decisions. If there is someone inside the government who cannot stay, he can sit inside and take all the privileges and go out without shouting lies or we have to protect the collective responsibility with the government," he said.
