Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) United Trade Union Alliance Convener Ranjan Jayalal said yesterday he believes the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation(CPC) will increase fuel prices in the aftermath of Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) doing it.
"Although the Minister's assurance is that he is not hoping to increase the prices, we will have to expect a definite price hike within the next couple of days," he said.
With the unstable actions of the government, people continue to fall into trouble day by day. While keeping the current situation as a basic platform, steps would be taken to increase the electricity consumption charges.
Somehow, the government is trying to put the people under an enormous burden, he said.
Accordingly, the LIOC had increased the price of a litre of Petrol 92 (Octane) by Rs.7 and the price of a litre of Lanka Auto Diesel has been increased by Rs.3 with effect from Sunday (6) night. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
