Colombo, September 17 (Daily Mirror) - The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has announced a trade union action tomorrow (18), targeting hospitals across the country, GMOA spokesman Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe said.
He said the strike is set to begin at 8:00 am tomorrow, potentially disrupting the provision of medical treatment.
The strike action was taken against the disciplinary actions that has been initiated against GMOA Uva Provincial Coordinator and Assistant Secretary Dr. Palitha Rajapaksa, without a formal complaint, Dr. Wijesinghe said.
He added that the GMOA will give the Health Ministry a 14-day period to initiate the restructuring process regarding the incident. If a positive response is not achieved within this time, further action will be decided following the Central Committee meeting at the end of the month.
