Colombo, November 08 (Daily Mirror)- The government ruled out any plans to offer ministerial portfolios to EPDP leader former minister Douglas Devananda.

NPP member Bimal Ratnayake told an election meeting in Jaffna that Devananda was misleading the people claiming that the President had agreed to offer him a ministerial portfolio.

Ratnayake said the President had held a discussion with Devananda following his request and added that the President agreed to give him a discussion as he was a former minister and an MP.

"It is political decency to offer a discussion when requested. Devananda is now spreading a lie that the NPP agreed to give him a ministerial portfolio. He is using a photo taken during the meeting to mislead the people. He has boosted the photo in his Facebook account, pumping Dollars. We are ashamed of Devananda. He supported Ranil Wickremesinghe during the last presidential election," he said.

He said the NPP will not offer any ministerial portfolios to anyone who was instrumental in bankrupting the country.
