The Minister made these remarks while addressing a gathering at the Media Ministry, where the director boards of the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka (NFC) and Sri Lanka Foundation Institute were appointed.
He said the National Film Corporation must be updated to suit the modern era and that it should compete with the private sector and succeed.
The Minister said the new director board must intervene and take action to release films in a reasonable manner adding that films had been released earlier on personal favours.
He also stressed the need to rectify irregularities in providing bank loans to the film industry.
Commissioner General of Official Languages, W. Prince Senadeera was appointed as the Chairman of the National Film Corporation.
