The government has launched novel programme to prepare an error free ‘House Holders' Register' (HHR) utilizing a community based database of 'e -Grama Niladhari' project, the Daily Mirror learns.
The Ministry of Home Affairs prepares the HHR annually via Grama Niladharis and the information in the HHR like the place of residency, occupation, land ownership etc are used by the public for all official matters.
A set of instructions issued by the Presidential Secretariat says that numerous issues have occured due to the issuance of certificates pertaining to residency based on electoral register by the Grama Niladari officers and not implementing the methodology of maintaining the householder head list.
In order to expedite the preparation of an error free HHR, the State Ministry of Home Affairs has launched the
'e - Grama Niladharii' project and a house and citizens database is being developed to implement throughout the 14,022 Grama Niladhari divisions. Identification and declaration of urban areas situated in Pradeshiya Sabha limits.
