The government should reveal Parliament as to who bore the cost of the Maldivian parliament speaker Mohamed Nasheed to attend the COP27 summit representing Sri Lanka, National People's Power (NPP) MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today.
He told Parliament that it was surprising that the President was going round the world attending summits and funerals when people including children are starving.
SJB MP Nalin Bandara said the Maldivian Parliament Speaker attending the summit representing Sri Lanka had been questioned by the international media and said Sri Lanka as a sovereign country had been humiliated due to this representation.
The MP questioned whether Nasheed attended the summit since there were no eligible Sri Lankan to represent the country.
Leader of the House Minister Susil Premajayantha refused to answer the question saying that it was not relevant to him to comment since it is pertaining to the subject of environment. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
