While refuting the claim by Tamil nationalist leader Pazha Nedumaran who said that LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was alive, the Sri Lanka Army said that there is no need to have any doubt regarding Prabhakaran's death.
Nedumaran, who was speaking to reporters in Thanjavur, said that the outlawed leader will appear in public at the right time.
He also claimed that Prabhakaran is doing well, his family is in touch with him and he is revealing it with Prabhakaran's family's permission. Prabhakaran was pronounced dead in the ethnic war by Sri Lankan military in May 2009.
On 19 May 2009, when Prabhakaran’s body was laid on the Nandikadal lagoon banks, Prabhakaran’s trustworthy bodyguard for years, former Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan (Karuna Amman) and Daya Master, the LTTE’s former Media Spokesman, were flown in from Colombo to identify the body of the LTTE leader, a top military officer who witnessed Prabhakaran’s body lying in the lagoon told Daily Mirror.
Meanwhile, Army Spokesman Brigadier Ravi Herath said that Prabhakaran's body was confirmed dead after a DNA test and observation of former LTTE members Karuna Amman and Daya Master. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
