Stressing that the danger posed by COVID is still lurking menacingly though cases have marginally decreased, the Health Ministry said the people's behaviour especially during the weekend is absolutely distressing.

Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath told a news briefing today that people were behaving as if the COVID risk had been vanished.

“We saw in media how people enjoyed their weekend going on excursions. This kind of irresponsible conduct by people can't be condoned,” he underscored.

“If people continued to act in this way, the authorities might be compelled to go for tighter restrictions,” Dr Herath stressed.

Thus, he urged people to be more responsible and leave no stone unturned in the battle against COVID-19. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
