Health trade unions resort to another strike

Colombo, Feb 12 (Daily Mirror) - Trade unions within the health sector have once again declared an island-wide strike following unsuccessful discussion with officials from the Finance Ministry.

Accordingly, the strike is to be held from 6.30 a.m. tomorrow, according to the President of the Federation of Health Professionals Ravi Kumudesh.

The focal point of the strike action is the prolonged and contentious disagreement surrounding the Disturbance, Availability, and Transport (DAT) allowance. 

Despite the representatives of the trade unions having a crucial discussion with the Finance Ministry officials today, neither of the parties has reached a consensus
