The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) had given its approval for the CEB for an 18 percent increase in electricity tariff from October 20, 2023.
Addressing the media, he said that the electricity tariff was increased in February, reduced in June, and increased again in October last year.
Accordingly, the CEB is hoping to reduce tariffs by at least 50 percent from the percentage that increased in October.
The decision to reduce tariffs is under discussion, the spokesman said.
