The prevalent hot weather conditions in the country will continue for the next few more days, the Meteorological Department said.
They said the hot weather condition was recorded at a higher level even yesterday in several areas.
Accordingly, in districts such as Anuradhapura, Ratnapura, and Vavuniya recorded hot weather which was above the average temperature.
Moreover, the department today forecast that the high temperatures will affect the Northern, North Central, North Western, Eastern and Uva Provinces as well as Hambantota and Ratnapura districts.
Therefore, the public are advised to take adequate precautions to protect themselves from heat related sicknesses.
Meanwhile, there could be thundershowers at several places in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces during the afternoon or night.
Heavy showers above 50mm are likely in some places. Showers are forecast in some places elsewhere during the afternoon or night.
Accordingly, there could be precipitations in the Western Province and in Galle, Matara, Jaffna, and Mannar districts during the morning too.
The general public are strongly advised to take adequate preventive measures to safeguard themselves from damages caused by strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
