Former MP Hirunika yesterday said she would have dragged President Gotabaya Rajapaksa out of his official residence if she was able to run inside Janadipathi Mandiraya on Wednesday.

“I would have held the President by his ear or by his hand and pulled him out of his official residence if I managed to get inside,” Ms Premachandra told journalists.

“President actually wanted to talk to me at that time and send a word. I responded by saying he should then come out and that I will go live on social media when conferring with him. However this dialogue did not take place,” she said.

“I was able to fool the intelligence officers on that day as I planned my act secretly. I was loitering in the area for a few days and found a pathway by the Dutch Hospital which leads to President's house. This is how I got close to the house. I will not apply the same tactics again if I am to storm inside President’s residence,” she added.

Also, she said July 9 protest will be the final uprising against the President and the government. “This protest on July 9 will not end on that day but would be a continuous one till President resigns. I will also participate in the protest on Saturday and see to it that it becomes a success. All political parties should join the protesters on that day but should not claim credit for it if it becomes a success. The party leaders should walk at the front. It is them who should face tear gas and water cannons first,” she also said. (Yohan Perera)
