Colombo, Sep 25 ( Daily Mirror) - International Monetary Fund Chief Kristalina Georgieva in a congratulatory letter to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, reiterated the IMF's readiness to assist the country through its future development and reform goals.
Dissanayake took oaths on Monday to become the country’s ninth Executive President and has previously stated that he would revisit some of the conditions of the IMF deal under his Presidency.
“We at the IMF greatly value the excellent engagement that we have had with Sri Lanka over the years. I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that we remain a steadfast partner and stand ready to assist Sri Lanka to achieve its development and reform goals, including under the ongoing IMF-supported program,” the IMF Chief wrote in her letter.
“We look forward to working together with you and your team towards building on the hard-won gains that have helped put Sri Lanka on a path to recovery since entering one of its worst economic crises.”
