Colombo, October 20 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) recorded nearly 8,000 complaints related to online scams, cyber frauds and issues concerning Facebook over the past nine months, SLCERT Senior Information Security Engineer Charuka Damunupola said.
He told the Daily Mirror that incidents of harassment and the creation of fake accounts on social media platforms were reported.
"Some 1,100 complaints related to online scams and cyber frauds were reported. Nearly 200 incidents involving the sharing of One-Time Passwords (OTP) were reported in September," he said.
The SLCERT Senior Information Security Engineer urged people not to share OTP codes with anyone.
