Senior Indian Politician from the ruling BJP, Dr. Subramaniam Swamy will arrive in Sri Lanka today on a two day visit on an invitation extended by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Officials from the Prime Minister’s office told Daily Mirror that Swamy will arrive to attend the Navaratri festival hosted by Prime Minister Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today evening.
During his visit, Swamy will also hold discussions with senior ministers including Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda and will address a forum at the Institute of National Security Studies of the Defence Ministry.
The forum will be attended by the Defence Secretary and Tri force commanders, the Daily Mirror learns. Swamy is a long time friend of Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family and has maintained cordial relations with the Prime Minister even when he was the opposition leader following Rajapaksa’s defeat in 2015.
Swamy will arrive in Sri Lanka on a charter flight.(JAMILA HUSAIN)
