Inmate succumbs to Meningitis at Galle Prison

Colombo, July 15 - One inmate at Galle Prison succumbed to meningitis during treatment at Karapitiya Hospital.

Dr. Hemantha Ranasinghe confirmed the death, attributing it to meningitis, commonly known as brain fever. 

Furthermore, Dr. Ranasinghe disclosed that three more inmates have been admitted to Karapitiya Hospital for further treatment after exhibiting symptoms of meningitis. 

Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and extent of the outbreak, with immediate measures being taken to contain and manage the situation effectively.
