Journalists prevented from covering PM’s meeting with Mahanayaka

Colombo, November 5 (Daily Mirror) - Journalists who gathered to cover the meeting which Prime Minister Harini Amararasuriya had with the Mahanayaka of the Ramanya Chapter, Most Venerable Makulewe Wimala Thera in Kalutara were reportedly prevented from carrying out their duties.

A video of the incident is being circulated over social media, where the Prime Minister’s security personnel are heard telling the journalists to obtain permission from the organisers of the meeting if they are to cover the event. One journalist is heard telling the security personnel that they have not been prevented from covering events such as this in the past. However, some journalists who managed to get into the meeting room were also sent out.

Journalists are heard saying they will walk out if they are prevented from covering the event.
