KKR release Chamika Karunaratne ahead of auction

Kolkata Knight Riders have released the former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi and Sri Lankan all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction.

The two-time champions acquired the services of Mohammad Nabi for INR 1 crore while Chamika Karunaratne cost them INR 50 Lakh in the mega-auction.

Earlier, KKR made a successful all-cash trade with the defending champions Gujarat Titans as they brought back the Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson and Afghanistan wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Delhi Capitals also traded Shardul Thakur worth INR 10.75 Crore to Kolkata Knight Riders for Aman Khan worth INR 20 Lakhs in an all-cash deal.

By releasing Chamika Karunaratne and Mohammad Nabi, Kolkata Knight Riders will free up their purse by 1.5 Crore.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asked all franchises to submit the list of their retained and released players by November 15.
