Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara today accused the Public Utilities Commission (PUCSL) Chairman, Janaka Rathnayaka for providing electricity to the hotels and apartments at a lower rate.
"We will reveal details on it soon," the minister said in Parliament.
"The PUCSL Chairman is creating issues as his misdeeds are exposed," the Minister added.
The Minister said this in response to Chief Opposition Whip Lakhman Kiriella who questioned as to why the minister is harping on a power tariff hike while the PUCSL Chairman has ruled it out.
The Minister was also engaged in a cross talk with MP Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero and questioned as to why the Thero is against paying Adani Group Rs. 40 per unit of renewable energy while asking the government to pay Rs. 60 for others.
"The Minister says that there is a renewable energy mafia in Sri Lanka. There is no such mafia," the Thero said.(Yohan Perera)
