Colombo, Dec 18 (Daily Mirror) - A current account and a fixed deposit account belonging to former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, with a combined balance of approximately Rs. 20 million, have been suspended by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The Commission said that the two accounts were suspended for seven days in connection with investigations under the Anti-Corruption Act, and the suspension is expected to be extended after being presented to court.
Earlier, several assets belonging to Rambukwella, his wife and other relatives were frozen as part of the ongoing investigations.
On July 5, 2024, the Colombo High Court issued a three-month suspension order on fixed deposits and insurance policies worth Rs. 97.125 million held in a private bank and life insurance policies belonging to Rambukwella’s wife, three daughters and a son-in-law.
This order was later extended till January 4, 2025.
