Keheliya’s writ petition challenging magistrate’s order to be heard on May 31

Colombo, May 14 (Daily Mirror)- The writ application filed by former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella seeking an order directing the Maligakanda Magistrate to release him on bail in connection with the alleged purchase of substandard Immunoglobulin injections, was today fixed for a fresh hearing by the Court of Appeal.

The Court of Appeal two-judge-bench comprising Justice (President) Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice Shashi Mahendran fixed the matter for support on May 31.

Through this petition, Keheliya Rambukwella is seeking an order in the nature of a Writ of Prohibition preventing Maligakanda Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrama from taking any steps to further detain him in remand custody.
