Colombo, November 20 (Daily Mirror) - A low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around Saturday (23) and is likely to intensify into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal during the two days, the Meteorological Department said.
They said the system may intensify further and move near the eastern coast of Sri Lanka.
Therefore, the public is requested to be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department in this regard.
Meanwhile, thundershowers would occur in the Northern, North Central and Eastern Provinces. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places.
Showers will occur at several places elsewhere on the island during the evening or night.
Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern Provinces during the morning.
Therefore, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
