Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa congratulated former Norwegian Minister Erik Solheim for being appointed as an International Climate Adviser to President Ranil Wickremesinghe and assured to support him in his new role.
Mr. Solheim met Mr. Rajapaksa in Colombo today during his special visit to the island where the latter during his discussions with the former, remembered the contribution made by Mr. Solheim to Sri Lanka as the peace negotiator between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE during Sri Lanka's civil conflict and discussed the negative impacts the conflict had on the Sri Lankan economy.
While the former Norwegian Minister during his stay in Sri Lanka, invited Norwegian investors to invest in the island, especially in assisting to strengthen the blue economy.
Mr. Rajapaksa said that Norway could play a crucial role in developing marine projects and said that the government would provide all the necessary assistance for such vital projects to take off the ground.
Mr. Solheim assured Mr. Rajapaksa of Norway's support to Sri Lanka and discussed ways on how both countries could work together further to march ahead.
