The MV X-Press Pearl ship that caught fire in Sri Lankan waters has started to sink this morning, the Navy said.
Navy Spokesman Captain Indika De Silva said a private salvage team had started to tow the ship to deep sea as instructed by the President.
The fire aboard the cargo ship off Sri Lanka was finally extinguished Tuesday after a 13-day international operation.
Earlier, experts from Dutch salvage company SMIT boarded the MV X-Press Pearl and reported massive flooding of the engine rooms.(DSB)
