Steps would be taken to integrate more new projects into Maga Neguma to make Maga Neguma a profitable venture, Minister of Roads & Highways Johnston Fernando said.
“That will make Maga Neguma stand on its own,” he said.
He said the monthly operational cost of the Maga Neguma institution was around Rs. 70 million and it was compulsory to be a profitable company.
He made these remarks during a meeting held at the Road Development Authority (RDA).
Minister Fernando said that it was not possible for the government to grant the costs of the venture.
“It is my primary objective to alter Maga Neguma Company to become a profitable firm,” he said.
“Maga Neguma Company has sites which produce raw materials needed in road constructions and those should be shifted to its own sites leading to more profits,” the Minister added.
