Mail tains to operate without mail compartments due to postal strike

Colombo, July 8 (Daily Mirror) - Although the mail train services are scheduled to operate as usual, the Railways Department has decided to remove the mail compartments from the trains due to the two-day strike by postal workers.

Accordingly, the mail compartments from the trains operating tonight and tomorrow (9) will be removed.

The two night mail trains running from Colombo Fort to Badulla and Galle have two mail compartments attached and these mail compartments have been reserved for the transportation of postal letters, parcels and the sorting of letters and parcels.

The Badulla night mail train will depart from Colombo Fort at 8.30 pm and the Galle mail train will depart at 6.45 pm.
