Main suspect arrested over police sergeant’s killing in Pollonnaruwa

The main suspect in connection with the murder of  police Sergeant T. G. Wijenayake (1786), who was the official driver of Senior DIG S. M. Wickremasinghe, was arrested by the CID early this morning, Police said.

They said the suspect, a drug addict, was identified as a resident of Polonnaruwa.

The body of the Sergeant, who had been hacked to death, was found at the official residence of the Senior DIG in the new city of Polonnaruwa on December 16 last year.
