Man with wooden rod pierced in neck saved

Colombo, Dec 26 (Daily Mirror) - The Vavuniya Hospital performed a life-saving surgery to remove a wooden rod lodged in the neck of a man admitted in critical condition.

The patient, who fell and accidentally impaled himself with the wooden rod while working in a field, was rushed to the hospital yesterday (25).

A team of doctors and nurses, led by surgeon Dr. Rajeev Nirmalasingham and anesthesiologist Dr. Nageswaran, carried out the operation, which not only removed the rod but also saved the man’s life.

The patient is currently in a stable condition.
