Former MP Namal Rajapaksa has called for the International Cricket Council to look into the allegations of match fixing during the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
“I implore the International Cricket Council and the Hon. Min of Sports to immediately take action on these accusations & hold an impartial investigation on the matter, based on this alleged evidence,” Rajapaksa said in a tweet.
“Accusations such as these are very serious and tarnish the image of a sport that we all truly love,” he added.
Former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage yesterday claimed that the 2011 Cricket World Cup final match between Sri Lanka and India was fixed, calling for an official probe into the alleged incident.
