Apart Pathirana, his Sri Lankan pace mates Lahiru Kumara, Dushmantha Chameera and Dilshan Madushanka will also be skipping the T10 franchise leagues citing several reasons.
Matheesha Pathirana, Lahiru Kumara, Dushmantha Chameera and Dilshan Madushanka are among four Sri Lankan speedsters set to miss the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 2023 season next week.
While the likes of Pathirana and Kumara are yet to attain full recovery from their respective injuries, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) has advised Chameera and World Cup 2023 cult hero Madushanka to opt out of the tournament.
Sri Lankan all-round veteran Wanindu Hasaranga, who was slated to lead the Northern Warriors franchise in Abu Dhabi T10 2023 season, will also miss the competition considering he recently underwent a surgery in England.
Earlier this year, Hasaranga sustained a hamstring injury during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 season, which subsequently ruled him out of the 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the 2023 World Cup in India.
The Abu Dhabi T10 2023 itself is set to commence on November 28, and will conclude on December 9. As many as eight teams will be participating in the seventh edition of the league, and all matches will be hosted by Abu Dhabi’s iconic Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
