Colombo, November 24 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has issued a warning for naval and fishing communities, advising them to avoid sea areas off the coasts from Mannar to Hambantota via Kankesanthurai, Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Pottuvil, starting from today until further notice.

These sea areas are expected to be very rough to high, with wind speeds possibly increasing up to 70 km/h. Very heavy showers or thundershowers are also anticipated in the region.

Additionally, the low-pressure system over the southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to bring heavy rainfall exceeding 150 mm in the Eastern Province and over 100 mm in the Northern, North-Central, Central and Uva Provinces, as well as the Hambantota District, by tomorrow (November 25).

The system is forecast to intensify into a depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and is expected to move closer to the east coast of Sri Lanka, potentially worsening weather conditions.
