Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has instructed the Archeology Department to introduce an alternative plan for youth to continue engaging in adventurous sea diving activities which is also popularly known as “Crazy Dive” from Kodigala in Galle Fort.

A meeting was held between the minister and the archaeologists on Wednesday in this regard. It was revealed that the crazy leap by youth has not completely stopped and that only one of their leaps had been stopped due to a stone wall erected at the site.
Officials of the Archeology Department said that the conservation work is being carried out at this site with the assistance of the World Bank after the recent excavations have uncovered the base and flagpole of the old lighthouse.
Minister Ranatunga said this deadly dive made by several youths is popular not only in Sri Lanka but also in the world.
