NTC, SLTB advised to assign more buses to avoid inconvenience to railway commuters

Colombo, June 9 (Daily Mirro) - The Transport Ministry advised the National Transport Commission (NTC) and the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) to assign more buses for railway commuters to avoid the inconvenience caused to them in reaching their workplaces tomorrow morning.

It has been brought to the attention of the Transport Ministry that railway commuters are facing severe inconvenience due to the ongoing strike by locomotive drivers since last Friday (7).

Accordingly, it has been advised to increase the number of buses to reach Colombo from Avissawella, Polgahawela, Aluthgama, Panadura, Chilaw, Gampaha and Negombo.

The Ministry has also advised the NTC and SLTB to operate buses outside of the joint schedule by considering the situation as a special occasion.

The Ministry expressed its regrets for the inconvenience caused to the passengers in this regard.
