COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - Senior Scientist D D Bulathsinhala has been appointed as the new CEO of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA), Daily Mirror learns.
Bulathsinhala who replaces Dr. Vijith Gunasekera has been appointed on a temporary basis.
This was officially announced at the board meeting held at the NMRA headquarters last morning (08) under the chairmanship of Dr Ananda Wijewickrama.
The meeting saw the participation of nine board members including Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena and Attorney-at-law Manoj Gamage.
The outgoing CEO Dr. Vijith Gunasekera has been transferred to the Health Ministry against whom an array of allegations were levelled in the recent past over the influx of inferior-quality medicines.
Bulathsinhala is member the Sri Lanka Scientific Service and the acting director of National Medicines Quality Assurance Laboratory (NMQAL)
