British High Commissioner Andrew Patrick met with Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at Temple Trees to discuss bilateral ties and development cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, the High Commissioner expressed his unwavering commitment to enhancing the relationship and development cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Gunawardena urged the United Kingdom to explore new investment opportunities, particularly in sectors such as education, banking and financial services, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, and tourism. He emphasized Sri Lanka's support for UK investment and encouraged the private sector's involvement in initiating investment projects.
High Commissioner Andrew Patrick expressed his satisfaction with the increasing participation of British universities and educational institutions in Sri Lanka's education sector. He also agreed to explore the potential expansion of English language teaching facilities in collaboration with the British Council.
The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Prime Minister, Anura Dissanayake, and Second Secretary of the British High Commission, Siobhan Latham.
